A simple and easy recipe using Japanese Turnips!

A simple and easy recipe using Japanese Turnips!

These are the beautiful vegetables that I bought at the farmer’s market, Japanese turnips and red onions.  I used them in two very simple recipes, perfect for when you don’t have much time but want to make something healthy! I sliced up the turnips thinly

Rockefeller Center Farmer’s Market- Shiro ume Plums, Japanese turnips, and more!

It was a pleasant surprise to find out that the NYC Greenmarket is doing a farmer’s market right near my office.  Although it isn’t as big as the other farmer’s market (like union square) it is really convenient if you are in the midtown area

4th of July Watermelon Granita

4th of July Watermelon Granita

My Dad brought in some fresh mint so I decided to make a refreshing granita for the 4th of July!

Ingredients:

Half of a watermelon

1 cup of chopped mint

3 limes (Squeezed)

Start out by cutting the watermelon into cubes. This will make it easier when you mix it in the blender.

Blend the  watermelon in the blender.

Add 1 cup of chopped mint and lime juice from 3 limes.  Mix ingredients together.

After everything is mixed, put it in the freezer and scrape the mixture every 30 minutes or so for about two hours.

Once it resembles the consistency above, it’s ready!
